VIEEW is a device used to test material samples for fractures, distortions, or color changes. Beginning with an engineering breadboard prototype from Atlas Material Testing Solutions, the design process included reconfiguring the optimal orientation of the internal components, addressing assembly and servicing issues, and creating a look and feel that fit the target market of high-tech laboratory clean room equipment. The design team was able to create a product that was less than half the size of the original intent and provided significantly improved ergonomics and serviceability issues over related products.
